Opening Scene
“Sometimes there’s a man… I won’t say a hero, ’cause what’s a hero? But sometimes, there’s a man – and I’m talkin’ about the Dude here – sometimes, there’s a man, well, he’s the man for his time and place. He fits right in there. And that’s the Dude.” -The Stranger
The “Dude” abides. He sure does. Oh, (chuckle), I’m not The Dude per se. With the exception of Jeff Dowd (the muse for “Jeffery ‘ The Dude’ Lebowski”) or Jeff Bridges, I don’t think there is a Dude. I think The Dude is a state mind, a goal, a ‘destiny’ if you will. Sounds like a powerful proclamation, huh? Perhaps. I guess It would be ironic to take The Dude’s laid-back philosophy and make a religion out of it. Ah, I lost my train of thought here. But… aw, hell. I done introduced me enough.
